Pictures of Dain

Well, I finally got a picture of Dain wearing his patch over his left eye! He now has to wear it for about 1 hour, twice a day. It does seem to be helping a bit. Still trying to re-train him to switch to using his right eye as well as his left. :) As you can see, he's not a huge fan of the eye patch.

Here is also a picture of Dain at the pool, after he had been swimming a while and I had to warm him up and give him a snack (note the messy mouth). We will try to get some actual water shots later on, when the weather is a bit warmer (and not quite so windy!).

Yesterday we took Dain to his very first tail-gating party. He thought it was fun to run around with the other kids and climb all over the bean-bag game. Here is a picture of Dain and his daddy hanging out at the tail-gate party.

Yesterday was Dain's first haircut ever. I gave him the haircut. We don't have pictures of the actual event because it took both of us. Check out his new haircut in the above picture with his daddy.

Our finished backyard

Update from yesterday: the bird was where we left it yesterday. It has officially passed. I was hoping that Tigger would at least have gotten a good meal out of it. Too bad!

Well - here is a picture of our finished back yard! Yay! Look at all that lovely grass for Dain to run around on - barefoot. :)

Here it is from the other side.

Updates (Updated version)

I was in the middle of writing this post yesterday (Sunday) when Dain decided to push the blue button on the computer. So now I'm picking up where I left off. :)

Has it really been a week since I posted something?

Guess what? I just found out that at least 2 (count it, that's right!) 2 people actually read my blog! It makes it all so worth it!

We got a new couch! This is exciting to me since our old furniture is SO worn out and the new couch is pretty! :) See?

Update on Dain's eyes: We saw Dr. P on Friday and we now have to patch Dain's left eye for a few hours a day, in order to force him to use his right. It's a bummer, but necessary. What gives a bit of comfort are 2 things: first, he won't remember any of this, and second, I had to wear patches as a child as well (and I don't remember it). My eyes turned out OK. I just have to be patient and diligent with Dain and his will be OK too.

Yesterday (Sunday), Jeremy got on a ladder and cleaned out the dryer vent. Turns out birds are actually living in there, not just flying in and getting stuck. He pulled out an entire nest full of twigs, feathers, lint, etc. I did actually decide to buy a bird guard, but we haven't installed it yet. Something tells me that it will be worth the $10 when it's on! Today I heard another bird in the laundry room. I don't think Jeremy's very motivated to get it out right now. Maybe 3 birds (maybe the same one each time) will inspire him to install the bird guard. :) UPDATE: Jeremy did decide to get the bird out tonight. This time however, the bird didn't want to come out of the dryer hose. When he finally got it out, it flew all over the house before we could catch it. And it wasn't ME who caught it, it was our cat Tigger. She grabbed it and gave it the death bite (cheep, cheep, cheep). Then, she walked away. So we had to pick up the injured bird and put it outside. We threw Tigger (and our other cat Butters, too, for good measure) outside with the bird and they just ignored it. May it die in peace in the cold, cold night. (BTW, Jeremy at least put some duct tape over the dryer vent in a criss-cross pattern to temporarily avoid this problem until he can get the bird guard installed.)

Between the dryer vent and the 7 or 8 birds that have dive-bombed our sliding glass door, our house is a true bird death magnet. All birds, beware!

We finished our back yard! Yay! We just have some "touch-up" type things left to do but it's done!

Lastly, a prayer request, although not for us. We have some friends at church who have just had their 6th miscarriage. Please pray for them. They are having such a hard time - grieving, and trying to figure out why God has chosen to let them walk down this path for the last few years. They are grieving the loss of yet another child. Please pray.

I'm still planning on posting the Evil Knievel video of Dain as soon as I can!

Another Dryer Visitor?

Scritch-scratch... hey wait, haven't we already heard that noise before? Yes, it's true... another bird flew in through the dryer vent and got stuck in the dryer hose! Thankfully this time we heard it right away.

Maybe we should think about getting a bird guard to put over the vent???

Dain's glasses...

We've been seeing Dr. P every Friday for Dain's eyes. This is because we want to aggressively try to work on the problem Dain's having! His right eye crosses in because he prefers to use his left eye. (My left eye is also my dominant eye.) In the picture, you can see that Dr. P is trying to force Dain into using his right eye more by blocking his left eye by almost half with the tape. It seems to be helping a bit, although sometimes Dain will turn his entire head around to look at you with the left eye instead of switching to the right.

Dain is a huge favorite with all the ladies that work at the eye doc's. They now say that he is the best way to start their Fridays. This past Friday, we didn't come in until 3:30 (we usually go in at 8 am) and everyone was asking where he was! Of course, he is a bit of a flirt and he'll talk up a storm! (Too bad we don't know what he's saying yet.)

Do you see that lovely string of drool? Yup - he's teething again! In the past 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, Dain's gotten in 3 out of 4 sets of molars! He's been a bit cranky, but seems to enjoy trying out his new teeth.

I have a funny video of Dain trying to be Evil Knievel that I will post later. Here is a picture of it.

Dain loves spaghetti!

Thought I'd share a shot of Dain eating spaghetti. It continues to be his favorite thing to eat! (And his messiest!)
He's already gotten in some of his molars. I can't believe how quickly this kid grows!

New Baby 3

Yay! I finally got to hold baby Connor! :)
I had forgotten how tiny newborns are. Dain has grown so fast... being almost 15 months old now. It was so fun to hold a new tiny one!
